This Is 70

Thank you for all the birthday greetings across so many different social media and technology platforms.  I’m pretty sure I’ve seen each and every one that I received and smiled remembering how our paths crossed.  From friends since I grew up on 59th Street in Brooklyn to the new friends I’m still making. 

70 is a big number.   I celebrated it loud and proud!  But it’s also a reality — I’ve lived way more than half my life.  I’m not depressed about it, just facing it.  I may not be as sharp or as fast as I once was but I’m not letting it hold me back at all.  In spite of all the health and life challenges that I’ve encountered I’m still here and I do believe I have a purpose.  Don’t ever give up, if you try your best you may not succeed but if you don’t try you definitely won’t succeed.  Don’t ever be afraid to ask for what you want or need.  If you don’t ask, the answer is always no but if you ask, the answer just might be yes.  Try to leave things a little better than you found them, even just small things can make a difference.
